Hiring A Builder ? How To Install A Roof Hatch

Roof hatches come in various types. You can use a retractable ladder, glass or fixed stairs. With every passing day, investors, especially in places like Medway, Kent and Gillingham, prefer glazed roof hatches more and more. This is partly due to aesthetics and new functionalities. They can be adopted for residential purposes and also works well with unused attics. Glazed roof access hatches are ideal for roof terraces.

Before you hire approved builders for the job, the location will have to be fixed. Typically, this is determined by the architect when he is designing the house. Ideally, a hatch should provide a comfortable and easy exit to the roof without a ladder.
Choosing the right hatch
Every hatch should serve its purpose according to the type of room in which it is located. If it is an unused loft or attic, you can install a cold hatch. As already discussed previously, there are different types of hatches. These include side-opening models and flap hatches. With the advent of universal hinges, you can change the direction in which your hatch opens at any time.

Glazed hatch installation
To begin with, the preliminary assembly includes outlining the edge on the membrane, cutting it and removing a portion of the roofing. The cuts have to be performed in such a way so that the membrane fragments can be folded outside. If you have a metal sheet, the hatch will be assembled over a horizontal overlap. Otherwise, you can put it over a row of tiles.

The success of the hatch installation depends upon the correct measurements that are taken of the roof opening. They have to be the same as the inside of the roof access hatch. You can enlarge the opening with the help of the trim material thickness.
